The Crestwood 2008 learning community, from Mantua, Ohio, was made up of a high school science teacher, a near-peer mentor, and eight high school students. Our goal was to take techniques we learned at ISLS and apply them to getting students, teachers, and our community involved in environmental studies. To accomplish this, we used technology and equipment acquired with the grants our science department was awarded from the HP Technology for Teaching program, the Dominion Educational Partnership, and the Akron Council of Engineering and Scientific Societies (ACESS). Also, in an attempt to get students out of the classroom we used the Cuyahoga River at our local park, a twelve minute walk from our school.   Link to school site
