-native to the Balkans, growth up to 2 feet in height

-full sun to partial shade
-ordinary, well drained fertile soil
-divide in spring or fall to maintain healthy plant
-struggles in hot and humid climates
-remove spent flowers for continuous blooming

Use

-good in rock gardens, blooms May through July
-provides good ground cover

Foliage

-deeply divided, hairy evergreen leaves

Flowers

-red flowers rising about foliage on thin stems with yellow stamens
