My interest in depictions of science and scientists in German literature led to a collaboration with Denny Taylor that has now spanned a quarter of a century and eight Study Abroad trips with him (together with my wife, German Professor emerita Sigrid Anderson). We have realized that the interdisciplinary courses that we designed were relevant not only to understanding how science and literature help to comprehend Germany, but also to embracing the complex confrontation with the World shared by all of the liberal arts.
