How’s it spread?
When a mosquito bites an infected host, the mosquito takes blood that has malaria in it, and when the mosquito bites the next human the parasites are passed onto them.
So, how is water involved in all this?
Mosquitos breed around standing or stagnant water. if a mosquito is infected with malaria, it can transmit it into the water, the disease then is able to transmit through the water and infect other humans or a mosquito which keeps the disease spreading.
How can it be prevented?
The best and most effective way to prevent malaria is by getting the malaria vaccine.
The best way to prevent malaria permanently is through mosquito control; doing things such as, using mosquito netting or spraying indoors to kill the mosquitoes.
What are companies, like the EPA doing?
The EPA began Vector Control in areas highly invested with mosquitoes. Vector Control is the attempt to eliminate mosquitoes completely.
Also, The Malaria Control Project, is in place to help keep people aware, to notice if they are infected, and how to prevent the disease.
