About Me:
Hello my name is Daniel Streen. I'm a junior at Hiram College majoring in Political Science with a minor in Economics and History. My other activities at Hiram are that I'm a member of the Hiram Rugby Team going third year. I'm also an active member in the Greek Life and the PRYSM club. In my little section of the internet here I will record and analyze my attempts to look at life at a different way as demanded by Field Biology course that I am taking this semester.
Future Plans:
Seeing how I have another year at Hiram, I guess that gives me some breathing room to figure out what I want to do with my life in a post collegiate world. I know down the road I want to go to grad school, because to be honest a degree in Political Science doesn’t present the most job opportunities. So next year I will be taking either the GRE or the LSAT’s. Depending on where my soul searching leads me. Other than that I plan on continuing to play rugby and enjoying life.
Community Service:
My part at Campus Day was amalgamations of tasks. Most of them require a healthy dose of manual labor. I first start out moving a few large rocks that were going to become part of a mortar less wall. After the rocks were moved I help remove a three foot tree stump that is pictured above. We had to dig out all around it, and then cut all the roots that connected it to the ground. Once everything was disconnected we had to lower our shoulders and pushed it out of the ground. The next part was actually lifting the stump into the dump truck so that it could be removed from the property.
The next part of the day was spent moving compost to the newly cleared beds. We had to make sure that it was deep enough and also that we sloped it the right way so that water drained away in the correct manner. After dozen’s wheelbarrows all the garden beds had a healthy dose of organic matter and setup so that the water would drain properly.
