The Ohio EPA's Rapid Assessment Method (ORAM) is an instrument for assessing the quality of a wetland. It consists of a 1 page form where the assessor gives points for six measurements, or metrics, four of which have submetrics. There is also a 16 page complete form and a 63 page use manual. The wetland is then assigned a category (1 = poor quality, 2 = medium, and 3 = high quality) according to how many points the wetland scored. (Friends of Wetlands, 2008) Students participating in ISLS perform the ORAM on three wetlands at the Hiram College Field Station.
