Picture of the Garden at Bonney Castle
The Garden behind Bonney Castle was first created in 1974, by a group of students led by John Shaw. It features the Hester Crawford Herb Garden in memory of a notable plantswoman who lived in Hiram. It also features a bench in memory of Brainerd Stranahan, and a part of the garden is in memory of George T. Morgan. It is a sustainable garden, and works as a model of how to form a garden that is sustainable and has benificial plant-insect interactions. We went into the garden, and not only weeded and made it attractive but added compost to fertalize and utalize natural recourses in doing so. It was also a learning experience for us as well, learning what plants belong, and what care they need.
