You Tell Us By: Natahan Rice, Zach Lyzen, Melissa Barth, Ivan Borrow, Nathan Wilder, Michelle Spangler, and Samantha Pierce. Abstract: The Newbury Science Learning Community presents methods incorporating traditional educational methods into more effective science modules. This visual shows how facts flow into streams of application, synthesis and evaluation using technology in a science education learning module. The experiences of a summer STEM institute were utilized to fuse traditional teaching methods and theory (VARK, Bloom’s taxonomy, cooperative learning) with technology (handheld computers, Sakai informational database, GPS). Traditional education must begin to capitalize on technology’s allure to capture student’s attention and increase motivation for learning. In a world of iPods, laptops, and cell phones, education must incorporate or be left behind!
