Shaping Minds, Shaping Landscapes – Promoting Learning by Involving Students in Learning About Their Own Educational Space

Shaping Minds, Shaping Landscapes - Promoting Learning by Involving Students in Learning About Their Own Educational Space By: Rachel Esque, Eddie Renfroe, Katie Collier, Craig Dennis, Jeremy Seeden, and Brooke Stankovich Abstract:  Ohio provides teachers with a strict list of content standards to be covered in a science curriculum. Covering all these topics can be a challenge for an educator because students are not engaged by the lecture format that is the accepted method for teaching. Remote sensing (the gathering of information at a distance) can allow a researcher to observe changes in an ecosystem over time. We demonstrate a classroom experience incorporating remote sensing with curriculum standards, using technology to discover and show changes in an environment while covering technology and science standards.
