Pocket PCs in the Field

By: Scott Marketa, Julie Qui, Garrett Orlandi, Irene Moeller, Meredith Kroeger, and Justina Wong. Abstract:  The iPAQ, a versatile, mobile device, can be used as a reference resource and means of collecting data. The students of Independence High School, participants in a STEM sponsored science program, utilize the practical capabilities of Pocket PCs in the field. They have adopted and incorporated this technology in their school’s Environmental Science curriculum. During their lesson on freshwater ecosystems, students took their iPAQs in the field, studying and analyzing pond and stream habitats at their school’s land lab. Come see how handheld technology is being revolutionized in science education at Independence High School.
