It is with a deep of sorrow that the Chinai family announces the passing away of Mrs. Nandini M. Chinai, wife of Mahendra M. Chinai, mother of Harish M. Chinai and Jaina Sanga, this Saturday morning, September 6, 2008, around 9:15 am (IST) at Lilavati Hospital, Bandra, where she was admitted for the past 10 days.She had been admitted for the treatment of Lung Fibrosis, but the final cause of her death was a massive heart attack with suspected brain hemorrhage.Her son Harish Chinai was at her side when the end came.

The participants of the Biomes of the World Expedition wish to express our deepest sympathy at the loss of Mrs. Chinai, who opened her home, sharing her life experiences and wisdom each day with all of us, setting an example of how to live even under conditions of great adversity.  We will miss her greatly and will always remember the generous hospitality of the Chinai family during our five day stay in Mumbai, India.
