The goal of ISLS is to reveal the connection with water and watersheds, to improve science education, and enhancing democracy. We hope to achieve this through innovative idea of learning communities consisting of five high school students, a teacher, and a Neer Peer Mentor. Using this format and active learning (hands on learning) we can further aid in the understanding watershed education. This format also helps to create an atmosphere to show teachers how well students respond to active learning therefore creating a more democratic view
